Rodfather Reels ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

1. What we collect

We collect the following information when you place an order or contact us:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number (optional)
  • Your shipping address
  • The contents of any emails or messages you send us
  • Order history (what you bought, when, and the price paid)

We do not collect or store credit card or bank account information — payment is by bank transfer, which you initiate from your own bank.

2. Why we collect it

We use your personal information only for:

  • Processing and shipping your order
  • Replying to your enquiries
  • Following up on warranty or service issues
  • Meeting our legal obligations (e.g. tax records)

3. Who we share it with

We share the minimum information required with:

  • NZ courier companies, to deliver your order (name and shipping address only)
  • Our email and accounting providers (e.g. Google Workspace, Xero) which process emails and invoices on our behalf
  • New Zealand tax or regulatory authorities, when legally required

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Marketing

We do not run an automated mailing list. We may reply directly to your enquiries, and we may occasionally email past customers about a reel that matches their stated interests — you can ask us not to at any time.

5. Cookies & analytics

The website uses essential cookies for cart and session state. We use basic website analytics (e.g. Google Analytics) to understand which pages are visited; this data is anonymised and aggregated and does not identify you personally.

6. Storage & security

We store your information on systems we control (our PC, encrypted backups) and on providers we use for email and accounting. We take reasonable steps to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, but no online service is perfectly secure.

7. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct it if it is wrong
  • Ask us to delete it (subject to our legal record-keeping obligations)

8. How long we keep it

We keep order records for at least seven years to meet NZ tax record-keeping requirements. Contact email threads are kept for as long as they remain relevant to ongoing support.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change.
